Merry Christmas to all

It's been a while since I've been here. I've made fudge, cream candy, hard tack, and my DH's grandma Baker's Christmas cookies. now these cookies really have nothing of Christmas in them it's just I never seem to make them at any othe time.

He is such a sweetie, he says that it just makes them special. He looks forward to them every year.

Didn't get near the things done I wanted to do. I don't know where the time flies. I cut my Christmas card list down because I make my cards and I didn't get enough done for my list.

Got a e-reader from Santa and I am having a heck of a time with it. We have wireless but my DH can't remember the password so I can sign on. I am going to have to find a hotspot to get on line. It has a saduko game on it but I really suck doing anything with numbers. Id rather play Nancy Drew on computer.

I hope Santa was generous to everyone and everyone remember that Jesus is the real reason for the season.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011        2011 will soon be here

Thanksgiving

Well turkey day has come and gone. Had 27 people in my basement.
Stuffed the turkey and stuffed all of my craft supplies behind curtains. It will take me forever to find anything. I really admire those people that are organized. It would be nice to know where something is when you wanted it.

I keep saying I am going to let a  friend of mine come and organize but I know she'll want to throw stuff away (making a face of horror) I know I keep way to much but that's who I am.

I thought I had better take a picture when you can see the table tops.

Saturday before Thanksgiving

I have been busy cleaning my craft room for Thanksgiving. I clean off the shelves so thy wouldn't look so cluttered, then I had to clean off the table, then the counter, then the table etc. you get the idea.

This morning Cliff asked for a piece of wire. Took me forever to find it. I love the look of my craft room all neat but I'm not organized so getting back to work will be a seek and find.

I think I have just about all the Christmas cards I need. I have been sending a lot less than I used to.

newest card

Another card made by using Tim Holtz technique of stamping on watercolor paper. You put the ink on the stamp spritz it quickly with water, stamp and dry with a heat gun.

The background was  made with a cuttlebug embossing folder and colored with Ranger dusty concord (my new favorite) ink. There is some green and a touch of aqua thrown in too, and some walnut ink.

The sentiment is from my print shop program. it's     We cannot imagine your sadness!
We can only empathize with your
pain. Our thoughts are with you.

My first try at this years Christmas card.

I'm trying to make a card from an example  from Roni Johnson't "inkstains" blog. She shows how to make a card with a window that she put through an embossing folder and colored with alcohol ink. I've tried it several times but I can't get one to show up very well in my scanner.

Great new site

I just found the best new site. It is the "Garlic Street Station" This site is not taking orders at this time but when they do I'll be one of their best customers. I bought some of their garlic jelly at the Lancaster's farmer market (Lancaster, Ohio) and it is sooooooooo good. They also have a popcorn topping that I am waiting to order. I was told it is really good. They blend all of their own mixes and have tested and tested them until they are sure the mixes are the best.

August 18 2010

wow, you know summer is on the way out when the kids go back to school. My grand kids and their mother start Friday and their dad starts Monday. Sean and Cristi are both teachers but at different schools.

My flowers are looking pretty sad too. I cleaned up one bed getting it ready for fall. The flowers were gone and the foliage was getting brown.

I got Tim Holt's DVD from the library and have been making cards using some of his techniques. I also made some new beads and I am trying to learn wire wrapping. I think I need a class.

Digital Class

Just read that Cindy still has some openings for her photo class, I wish I had a cheat sheet for changing photo shop into corel paint shop. Its a lot of work (for me)  to figure how to follow along in corel.

closer look at some of my new beads

closer look at  the screw heads.

an afternnon playing with polymer

spent a day working in polymer clay while my granddaughter used my computer. I had read on one of the groups to use polymer to make screw heads. Its just a tiny ball of black clay flattened slightly and a screw driver pushed into it. I touched it lightly with green perfect pearls.
Now I have to think of an altered art piece to use them on.

June 24th

june 24th is my wedding anniversary, 38 years ago  today was a very cold day for June. We got married on the front porch of my parents home with our grandmothers huddled under shawls. Today it is in the 90's.

Boy what 38 years does to a planet LOL

Butterfly Easter Card

Butterfly

Had such a good time Friday, it was the first time I let myself spend much money on craft supplies since my dh was laid off. I went to the Columbus Expo in Columbus, Ohio and went directly to the stamper anonymous booth. Wendy Veah was there, I know I gushed and probably said her name wrong but I was so suprised to see one of my favorite designers in person that I was like a teenager and a rock star.

She signed her 'make art, studio 490 style' (after I bought it) It says "Diane Make Art! Wendy Veah"

I also bought Tim's fanciful flight die and made an Easter card out of it. I made an embossing folder and embossed one layer and added a die cut butterfly on top. It also had Happy Easter embossed in gold powder and I added a glitter with sticklers.

crayon and embossing folder background

I saw a crayon technique today and it reminded me how fun it was so I thought maybe it could be sanded after using a embossing folder. I like how they turned out.
